PeaceJam Foundation Honors the 2020 Billion Acts Awards Finalists

Denver, Dec 13, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - This generation of young people understands that peace is a verb, and is stepping out in record numbers to make a difference on the most critical issues facing our planet. This year they stood up against child laborers, advocated for nuclear disarmament, created sustainable local food systems, brought racial literacy to their schools, inspired young black men to believe in themselves, petitioned to ban plastic, and demanded peace and democratic elections in their countries.

The Billion Acts of Peace Campaign honored 12 of these amazing young people changing the world. Their projects were chosen from the over 10 million acts of peace that were submitted to the website in 2020. These Billion Acts Awards Finalists span the globe from Liberia to Germany, India, Canada, US, Egypt, Ireland, and Peru. These Nobel Peace Laureates in training are the future leaders that our world so desperately needs.

• Water Youth Network  - A network engaging youth in solutions to the global water crisis

Best Local Impact Project

• Kinsu Kumar (Winner) - A former child laborer now advocating for children in India and globally
• Choose.org - an education platform to help educators with tough conversations around race

Best Youth Social Enterprise

• Sundance Harvest (Winner) - A program teaching marginalized youth how to grow their own food
• Genecis - Youth-run biotechnology firm turning food waste into biodegradable plastics

• Madhvi Chittoor (Madhvi4ecoethics) (Winner) - Eliminating plastics and styrofoam 
• Jose Adolfo (Banco Del Estudiante) - Created a bank for youth to earn cash for recycled materials

• Youth4Disarmament (Winner) - Youth initiative of UN to end war as a tactic of foreign policy
• Swipe Out Hunger - Movement to democratize campus dining halls and eradicate college hunger

• Nyeeam Hudson (King Nahh) (Winner) - Motivational speaker promoting self-love and confidence
